A Associação Nacional da Indústrias de Vestuário e Confeção (ANIVEC/APIV) tem origem nas corporações de alfaiates da Idade Média. No Porto existe ainda a Confraria de Nª Senhora de Agosto e São Bom Homem que mantém o património da Capela dos Alfaiates onde está a imagem de São Bom Homem, padroeiro dos Alfaiates.
Em 1933, estabelecem-se o Grémio dos Alfaiates do Norte, no Porto, e o Grémio dos Alfaiates do Sul, em Lisboa.
Com a adesão de Portugal à EFTA a indústria do vestuário teve um enorme desenolvimento em 30 de Abril de 1975 os dois Grémios transformam-se em associações industriais, Associação dos Industriais de Vestuário do Norte e Associação dos Industriais de Vestuário do Sul, que em Março de 1981 dão lugar respectivamente à ANIVEC - Associação Nacional de Indústrias de Vestuário e Confecção, no Porto, e à APIV - Associação Portuguesa de Industriais de Vestuário, em Lisboa.
Na década de 90 a ANIVEC e a APIV desenvolveram-se de forma muito significativa, passando a ser duas das mais prestigiadas associações sectoriais do País.
Em Janeiro de 2003, concretiza-se a fusão das duas associações industriais, passando a existir apenas a ANIVEC/APIV (Associação Nacional de Indústrias de Vestuário e Confecção), com sede no Porto e delegação em Lisboa.
History
The National Association of Clothing and Apparel Industry (ANIVEC/APIV) has its origins in the tailor´s guilds of the middle ages. In Oporto there is still the Nossa Senhora de Agosto e São Bom Homem brotherhood, which is responsible for the Tailor´s Chapel, where the image of São Bom Homem (St. Good Man), Patron Saint of Tailors in kept.
In 1933, The Union of Tailors (North) and Union of Tailors (South) were established in Oporto and Lisbon respectively.
After Portugal joined EFTA, the clothing industry saw a period of great development and, on 30th April 1975, the two Unions were transformed into industrial associations, the Association of Clothing and Apparel Industry (North) and the Association of Clothing Industry (South), and these in turn, in March 1983, became ANIVEC - the National Association of Clothing and Apparel industry, in Oporto, and APIV - the Portuguese Association of Clothing Industry, in Lisbon, respectively.
In the 1990s, ANIVEC and APIV changed significantly, becoming two of the most prestigious industrial associations in Portugal.
In January 2003, the two industrial associations joined to become just ANIVEC/APIV (National Association of Clothing and Apparel Industry), with its headquarters in Oporto and an office in Lisbon.
